WELCOME TO TEMPLE BAPTIST CHURCH
Where Christians Are Growing Together In Christ!
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Temple Baptist Church website.
We are an Independent, Fundamental, Baptist Church dedicated to exalting the Lord Jesus Christ and obeying the Word of God. If you like old-fashioned preaching and singing with a conservative style of worship then we invite you to attend one of our services and worship the Lord with us.
Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Pastor Krachenfels was born in 1954 and was raised in Westland, Michigan. He joined the US Navy at the age of 17 and was stationed at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia. While there, he attended an old-fashioned tent revival, and on June 17, 1974 repented of his sin and trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He has been a student of God’s Word throughout his Christian walk, having received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Church Administration in 1979, a Master of Theology degree in 2001, and a Doctor of Ministry degree in 2011.
While attending the Tabernacle Baptist Bible Institute in Virginia Beach, VA, he and Debbie were married, and after graduating, they served for thirteen years in a missionary printing ministry. They then moved to Southeastern Michigan where he served for eighteen years in Pastoral ministry. In July 2012 he was asked to come to Temple Baptist Church to assist in rebuilding this ministry, and in August the congregation unanimously voted to extend a call for him to serve as their next Pastor.
Pastor and Debbie have three sons, each living for the Lord, and eleven grandchildren. We pray, should the Lord tarry His return, that God will give our Pastor and his wife many more years of added health and strength as they continue to serve Him with us here at Temple Baptist Church.
Temple Baptist Church, established in 1965, has been a beacon for God’s Righteousness in this community for over 50 years. Many folks have faithfully served the Lord throughout these years and we today are committed to upholding those same tenets of the Word of God until His return.
Temple Baptist Church, started by Pastor Bob Allgood, was first called Bible Baptist Church. It met in the Pastor’s home on Ingraham Avenue. As the congregation grew, they began meeting in the Oddfellow’s Hall on Washington Avenue in downtown Sarasota. The church met there for two years. The congregation then purchased 4.3 acres on the corner of Wilkinson and McIntosh Roads for $5,000 and a building was constructed in 1968. Pastor Allgood started our Christian School which was named Patrick Henry School also in 1968. In 1970, a bond issue was floated that enabled the church and school to build an Educational Building. Pastor Allgood served faithfully for six years.
In 1971, Dennis Wheeler became Pastor of the Temple Baptist Church. The church made two land purchases in 1973 which increased the campus size from 4.3 acres to 10.0 acres. The gym, locker rooms, classrooms, offices, and a maintenance building were then built. The name of the school was changed to West Florida Christian School. The faithful people of TBC have seen hundreds saved and thousands of dollars have been raised for missionaries serving around the world. Pastor Wheeler served faithfully until 1995.
In 1995, Don Weeks became Pastor of TBC and served until 2000.
